Cellular adhesion molecules(CAM)
- Cells are adhered with other cells as well as with basal lamina by CAM
- 4 types of such molecules-Integrin,IgG super family,Cadherin(Calcium dependent),Selectin
Inter cellular connection -
Cell to cell connection
1) Gap junction :
- Allows exchange of cytoplasmic molecules and ions between cells without spilling into ECF
- Connexion is unit of gap junction and is made up of 6 subunits
- In CVS and CNS
2) Desmosomes
- Spot welds are present between cells
- In skin
3) Zonula occludens(Tight Junction)
- In small intestine,renal tubules,choroid plexus
4) Zonula adherens
Cell to basal lamina connection
5) Hemidesmosomes
6) Focal adhesions
